Where the geese fly and the bulls cry.
Severance has exploded with new construction in this century, but still retains plenty of its heritage, including Bruce's Bar, which is world-famous for its Rocky Mountain Oysters. If you don't know what Rocky Mountain Oysters are, you'll just have to visit Bruce's and give them a try! Here's a hint: they don't come from the ocean.
Founded in the late 19th century as an agricultural community, the town remained primarily a rural farming community based on the raising of cattle, sugar beets, potatoes, and onions throughout the last century. But in the 1990s, it began to grow aggressively through the construction of new residential subdivisions.
Since the economic base of the town is limited, many of the new residents commute to jobs in Greeley, Fort Collins, Windsor and Denver. Like many communities in western Weld County, the town affords a scenic, panoramic view of the Front Range to the west.
